If you’re a fashion lover like me, Milan is definitely one of your dream vacation destinations. I was there a couple of weeks ago for business and I wanted to live THE real Milanese lifestyle. Staying in a fancy area, eating refined food, drinking Instagrammable coffee, and shopping were at the top of my to-do list! YOLO, as everyone says!
So, if you’re on a budget, my itinerary isn’t for you. However, if you want to know what a fancy Milanese way of life looks like, here’s some advice I received from a Roman who travels to Milan very often.
Where to Live
The goal is to be central, so focus on areas like Brera, Duomo, and Quadrilatera della Moda. My friend and I found a cute studio in Brera (there are hundreds of them) and I definitely want to go back. The area is just perfect! These three zones are pretty central, so it’s super easy to walk everywhere.
Where to Be a Tourist
Duomo Cathedral
Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II: historical construction containing gorgeous shops.
Navigli: see happy hour section.
Via Monte Napoleone: home to high-end stores. It’s possible to find crazy sales, like 50% off during the summer or in January. Confession: there was 50% off at Jimmy Choo and I gave in to the temptation… oopsies!
Where to Eat
Breakfast/coffee/dessert
Bar Luce Fondazione Prada: vintage looking, a typical fashion blogger spot.
Cova: for their velvet benches.
Marchesi: it’s like an Italian version of Ladurée.
*Warning: coffee and tea cost each about 8-9 euros each, but the Instagram photo makes the heftier price tag so worth it!
Lunch
Papermoon Giardino: for their private garden.
Il Salumaio: I unfortunately ran out of time to eat here!
Dinner
Angolo di Casa: the it place to meet Italian TV stars, Insta babes, or soccer players (as long as you’re able to recognize them).
Bice: typical Milanese food (the Milanese chop is a must).
Aperitivo (happy hour)
Rinascente: rooftop terrace right across from the Duomo Cathedral. Beautiful.
Navigli: perfect area to stroll by the water and enjoy a drink. Definitely a must see.
Il Barretto: confession, I haven’t been, but I’ve heard it’s THE place to go to for happy hour.
There you go! Feel free to write your own fav spots in the comments below. Have fun in Milan!
P.S. If you spot Chiara Ferragni, I’m so jealous! BYE!
